Motion carries unanimously by
electronic vote 7-0.
Dr. Bell, City Manager, made the following clarifications in response to earlier comments
made:
➢ In regards to Pete's Harbor, Dr. Bell said that when the appeal first came to
Council, staff was asked to delay it and that City Council honored this request
and asked staff to bring this back on May 6th. At that time, staff will bring back
any updates or changes to the project description and/or to the analysis from
staff and the State Lands Commission.
➢ The Affordable Housing program was presented to Council about four weeks ago
and it included the number of units coming online in last ten years, the
investments the City has made, and the number of units that were permitted last
year that were either below or at market rate. He noted that all this information is
available online at www.redwoodcity.org with the housing report on the front
page.
➢ In a few months, Council will have a community benefits discussion about
development in the post-Redevelopment Agency era that may include different
things such as infrastructure, market-rate and affordable housing, park
development and other options.
➢ Dr. Bell also wanted to remind the community that the City is engaged in litigation
with the state about getting back affordable housing funds that the state took
when the Redevelopment Agency was dissolved. If anyone wishes to help with
this, to please email him a letter stating that the money belongs in our
community.
➢ In regards to our cost shared program, Dr. Bell said that several staff members
and the Community Development Director did go out and found that the project
does comport with City specifications and this was clarified in a memo that had
already gone out.
One Council Member spoke of situations where her name and identity were
misused/stolen, a certain police report was filed and an Attorney was then hired to
address the issue. She also mentioned another incident of slander and shared this
information because she thinks it is important that the community understands and is
aware of tactics being used by others outside of the community.
1.
