Dani Gasparini, former Mayor of Redwood City, spoke about people losing the ability to <br /> be civil and instead were being bullies at Council meetings. She advocates for civil <br /> community conversations. Moreover, she said that she was sad about what was written <br /> about the Council in blogs and how inappropriate such comments were. She strongly <br /> recommended that the bullying be stopped. <br /> Andy Frish thanked Council for the opportunity to speak and concurred with Ms. <br /> Gasparini on what she said. He opined that the developer had been working with the <br /> community and with the City. However, Mr. Fitch is concerned with the continued delay <br /> of this project. <br /> Lilia Ledezma, long time resident of Redwood City, thanked Council and staff for their <br /> work on analyzing the Pete Harbor's project. She also thanked Paula Uccelli for her <br /> decisions and Mr. Paul Powers for his deve�opment. She appreciated the projects of <br /> One Marina and the future development of Pete's Harbor. Lastly, Ms. Ledesma said <br /> that she hopes that the project starts as soon as possible, but understands if it goes <br /> back to Planning. She wanted to let Council know that she supports them. <br /> Susan Uccelli, niece of the late Pete Uccelli, spoke about what was currently missing at <br /> Pete's Harbor, such as a public walk way and bike path, and what will be at Pete's <br /> Harbor if the development is approved by Council. She stated that this project will have <br /> more public access and opined that it will look better. She further opined that the <br /> developers have worked with the community. Ms. Uccelli said that this (project) needs <br /> to have an ending. She further thanked Council for giving her the right to speak and <br /> advocated for everyone to at least stand up for the pledge of allegiance. <br /> Linda Levenbury opined that there was nothing in the development for people with <br /> disabilities. She stated that they won't be able to get there and enjoy the area. She <br /> urged Council to accept staff's recommendation to go to back to the Planning <br /> Commission. Ms. Levenbury also added that this project was for everyone, not just for <br /> the few. <br /> Dave Amann asked Council to not delay the project. He mentioned the many ways <br /> people will benefit, such as having jobs and obtaining more revenue for children's <br /> education, libraries, the police department, fire department, and the parks and <br /> recreation department. He further opined that 411 families want to be in Redwood City, <br /> and that Council has waited too long to accommodate the few who oppose the project. <br /> He said that the pros for this development outweigh the cons. <br /> M/S Seybert/Gee to close the Public Hearing. Motion carried by unanimous voice <br /> vote. <br /> One Council Member asked whether the decision Council made tonight depended on <br /> what the State Lands Commission will do or not do, specifically Council received letters <br /> from the State Lands and there were still some unresolved issues. Dr. Bell addressed <br /> the question and said the letters from the State Lands Commission dealt with the leases <br /> from the current property owners.
