5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation - Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Bay Area Water <br /> Supply and Conservation Agency - Art Jensen, Chief Executive Officer <br /> and General Manager -Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre presented the proclamation to Mr. Jensen in recognition of the 10th <br /> Anniversary of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) and its <br /> work for the community throughout the years. She also thanked Council Member <br /> Pierce for serving with BAWSCA for a number of years. Mr. Jensen accepted the <br /> proclamation on behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of BAWSCA and he thanked <br /> everyone for their support, including Council Member Pierce for serving as a Board <br /> Member and Chair on the Board of Directors. <br /> B. Proclamation - Designating the week of May 19 through May 23 as <br /> National Public Works Week - Bill Ekern, Community Development <br /> Director -Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre presented the proclamation to Mr. Ekern. Mr. Ekern expressed his <br /> thanks and appreciation to his team and department for all that they have done. He <br /> said that they continue to work on improving the infrastructure into the "A" category. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> There was no public comment. <br /> M/S Seybert/Bain to approve the Consent Calendar. Motion carried 6-0 by electronic <br /> vote with Council Member Foust absent. <br /> One Council Member commented on item 6.1 B, the First Amendment to Revocable <br /> License Agreement Between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City Kiwanis <br /> Club for Relocation of the Kiwanis Farmers Market. She thanked Malcolm Smith, <br /> Caroline McHenry, and the Kiwanis Club for their work in relocating the market and <br /> acknowledged the good communication and relationship between the City and the Club. <br /> 1. Section - Motion(s) <br /> A. Award of Contract for the 2012-2013 Slurry Seal Project (304) <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Approve, by motion, the contract documents and award the standard form <br /> contract 00520 for the 2012-2013 Slurry Seal Project to American Asphalt of <br /> Hayward, for their responsive and responsible low bid of $1,219,153.00 and <br /> authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up <br /> to 10% of the amount awarded.
