5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Recognition - Belmont Redwood Shores Little League - Robert Notte, <br /> BRSLL Vice President - Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre expressed excitement, pride, and congratulations in welcoming the <br /> Belmont Redwood Shores Little League (BRSLL) to the meeting. The Vice President <br /> Robert Notte thanked the Mayor and City Council and presented them with <br /> commemorative All Stars T-shirts with the players' names on the back and official <br /> League baseballs that have been signed by all the players. He noted that this team has <br /> proudly represented the community and have been the first in almost fifty years to reach <br /> the championship game undefeated. He invited everyone to help them celebrate on <br /> Sunday, September 15th at the Belmont's Sports Complex. Rudy Lopez, Manager of <br /> the team, introduced the players and the coaches thanking everyone for a great <br /> accomplishment. The Mayor and City Council congratulated each person. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Council Member David Braunstein, from the City of Belmont, thanked City Council and <br /> Staff for collaborating with their City and for the Council's and City Staff s support for the <br /> Belmont Redwood Shores Little League All Stars. <br /> Mayor Aguirre and the Council thanked Honorable Braunstein for his presence tonight. <br /> Tania Sole expressed concerns about being evicted because she installed a sewer and <br /> opined that it is a City's responsibility and residents' right for the City to provide sewer <br /> services. She said there have been past statements that the City would rectified this, <br /> other cities provide residents with sewers, and there may be federal funds to help pay <br /> for them. <br /> James Lee Han said he is a candidate running for City Council and there is good news <br /> on affordable housing with Assembly Bill 1229 that passed last week and needs the <br /> Governor's signature. He spoke in favor of sending letters or memos to the Governor in <br /> support of this bill to help the City and state on affordable housing. <br /> Connie Guerrero, Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission Chair, <br /> invited everyone to the Fiestas Patrias, Mexican Independence Day, from 4 to 8 p.m. <br /> this Saturday at the Courthouse Square. She said this is a great celebration with many <br /> people and sponsors attending from throughout the Bay Area and that the official <br /> ceremony begins at 6 p.m. <br /> 7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances <br /> and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items. <br /> M/S Seybert/Gee to approve the Consent Calendar.
