He urged modification of <br /> Condition 19 to limit the size to 2,000. <br /> Larry Purcell said that his house is not over 3,000 sq. ft. and it was incorrectly <br /> characterized by one of the presenters. He believes you cannot build a large house in a <br /> small lot. <br /> Marilynn Donnelly is concerned about her street cracking and the heavy equipment that <br /> will go through there. She has a large crack in front of her home and she shared <br /> concerns. <br /> Carrie Simon urged Council to grant the appeal of the Save Laurel Way and deny the <br /> appeal of Laurel Way Joint Venture. On behalf of her aunt and herself, Ms. Simon <br /> believes that for almost 50 years Redwood City government took the stand of not <br /> developing there. She quoted the City Manager in 1985 as he spoke about the area. <br /> She believes that something has changed and it is not the land; she urged Council to <br /> listen to the residents, neighbors and environmental experts to not build there. She <br /> mentioned the Errata of the final EIR and how it defers or eliminates environmental <br /> considerations in a site like this. She believes the City has the discretion to say this <br /> project is not appropriate as it has said since 1985. <br /> Oded Haner said he has helped organize the 16 lot owners. He knows how complex <br /> this project is and understands Council is relying on Staff. He stated the City does not <br /> have a hillside ordinance and all the other cities. He said that he had tried to appease <br /> the neighbors and come to a compromise, but was not successful. He urged Council to <br /> think of the hillside and lot owners. <br /> Roger Flores supports the Development and opined that it is in character to the rest of <br /> the hill. He opines that it is sad that people that oppose this Development don't want <br /> new residents to have homes like theirs. <br /> Jackie Burdick, with the Laurel Way Joint Venture group, wants to build what everyone <br /> else has and complied with CEQA and worked hard and in good faith. She asks <br /> Council to overturn Condition 19. She wants her plan to be approved. <br /> Lilian Wasseistein, a neighbor to Laurel Way, said she is amazed that the lot owners do <br /> not have their homes built there yet in a family friendly welcoming city. She opines that <br /> any group resisting is costing time and money. She supports the Laurel Way project. <br /> Scott Sweeney, lot owner on Laurel Way, believes that this has been quite an ordeal <br /> and opines that the project is not complex, but has a complex history. This project has <br /> been discussed for many years and should take into account the landscape plans, <br /> which will add more oak trees and will add a lot of value. <br /> David Rodriguez would like to discuss traffic mediation that will hugely impact in and <br /> around Highland Avenue should this project go forward.
