San Mateo County Supervisor Richard Gordon, President of the Redwood City-San <br /> Mateo County Chamber of Commerce reported that the Chamber of Commerce is <br /> celebrating its IOOth Anniversary in 1998. He invited the Council and members of the <br /> community to attend the annual awards dinner on January 28. Supervisor Gordon <br /> announced that former Mayor Oani DeVincenzi has been chosen as this year's Athena <br /> Award winner. <br /> B. Ed Bailey, 3215 Page Street, Co-chair of the Friendly Acres-East Bayshore Neighborhood <br /> Association, expressed appreciation to Chief Bolanos who volunteered to participate at the <br /> Christmas Program at Taft School. He said the children really enjoyed this year's "Santa." <br /> Mr. Bailey encouraged everyone in the community to volunteer their time in support of the <br /> Healthy Start Program. <br /> C. Clem Molony, Pressure Vessel Services, 525 Seaport Boulevard, Secretary of the Seaport <br /> Industrial Association, described the September 15, 1997 letter he sent to City Manager <br /> Everett. He provided copies of the letter for Council information, and discussed traffic <br /> mitigation strategies regarding the Pacific Shores Development. Mr. Molony expressed <br /> his concerns about the increased traffic at the intersection of Seaport Boulevard and <br /> Highway 101 due to the projected 4,000 new jobs. He said he hoped that the mitigation <br /> program under the City's development agreement would include highway access <br /> improvements along with local road improvements and that developers would pay their <br />- fair share. He expressed his support for the City's $1.8 million improvement program on <br /> Woodside Road. (Jt)O) <br /> D. The following speakers described the success of the Silent Night Program, and thanked the <br /> Council, Chief Bolanos and the Police Department for the resources devoted to a quiet <br /> New Year's Eve in Redwood City: <br /> Nora Colin, 624 Flynn, on behalf of Nelda Rosales; <br /> Juan Carlos Prado, 212 Lincoln; <br /> Patricia Sandoval, 2508 Spring Street; <br /> Salvador Sandoval, 2508 Spring Street; <br /> Juan Vilorio, 1316 Stambaugh; <br /> The speakers said the flyers offering a $500 reward, the media exposure, the <br /> Neighborhood Watch Patrol, and the gunshot locator system all combined to make the <br /> Silent Night Program very, very successful. <br /> Chief Bolanos stated that he is preparing a Council report regarding the success of this <br /> program. <br /> MEMO 1/7/98 <br />- <br /> REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 JANUARY 5, 1998 <br /> MINUTES Page No. 139 PAGE 2 <br />
