Oral Report from the City's Tree Policy Task Force Chairman, Vice Mayor Ruskin. (701)
Vice Mayor Ruskin reported that the Tree Policy Task Force met to reevaluate the City's
tree policy. He stated that Council Members Hartnett and Ira attended, along with Public
Works Services Director Ingram, Superintendent Mann, five consulting arborists from the
Bay Area, and members of the public. He said they had a very detailed and complex
discussion and the Task Force came to three conclusions:
I) The Task Force needed to come back to the Council with a specific recommendation.
2) The Task Force needed to meet with the Roosevelt area residents to come up with a
policy recommendation.
3) The Task Force needed to continue for at least a few more months to reevaluate the
street tree policy in its entirety and come up with recommendations.
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 JANUARY 12, 1998
MINUTES Page No. 158 PAGE 5
