B. Don Wells, 800 Main Street, told Council he has bought a Main Street ten-hour meter
Parking Permit every year for many, many years, but recently has had trouble finding an
available space. Mr. Wells said there were between 4 to 10 City vehicles taking those
spaces, and asked the City to park its vehicles in the non-permit two-hour meter spaces.
Mayor Howard asked City Manager Everett to work with Mr. Wells on this issue.
MEMO 12/1/97
C. John Holt, 42 Iris Street, invited everyone to attend all the events of the "Tis the Season"
celebration throughout Redwood City, beginning with the "Holiday Tree Lighting
Ceremony" at the new downtown City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road. He described the
fireworks planned (contributions still needed), the parade and appearances by Santa and
Mrs. Claus. Mr. Holt distributed flyers listing all the events planned through December 20
(on file in the City Clerk Department.)
D. Tony Halabi, 661 Spar Drive, advised Council that the property at 641 Spar Drive was in
violation of Redwood Shores CC&Rs and Redwood City Building Codes. He described
the violations and asked Council to enforce the City's Codes.
Mayor Howard asked City Manager Everett to work with Mr. Halabi on this issue.
MEMO 12/1/97
E. LaVerne Atherly, 515 Cringle, urged Council to support the residents of the Redwood
Shores Neighborhood in their opposition to the proposed four-story building in the "CG"
zoned property in the Lido Neighborhood.
Couneilman Leipzig and Mayor Howard announced that adoption of the Ordinance
imposing a moratorium on construction in the "CG" zoned property in the Lido
Neighborhood had been postponed until December 18,1997.
MEMO 12/1/97
F. Don Frohlieh, 491 Topaz Street, told Council he was offended that he had not received at
least an acknowledgment of the letter he had sent to each ofthem last July.
Mayor Howard reminded Mr. Frohlieh that she had met with him to discuss his issue.
Couneilman Claire said Council Members received barrels of correspondence each week
and always asked staff members, who have the necessary knowledge, to respond to
citizens. Vice Mayor Ruskin advised that he and City Manager Everett were involved
in investigating this issue and hoped to have an answer for Mr. Frohlich soon, and
apologized for not informing Mr. Frohlich oftheir progress.
MEMO 12/1/97
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 DECEMBER I, 1997
MINUTES Page No. 074 PAGE 2
