She stated that the
merchants in the area, in the past had wanted parking meters to create available parking for
prospective buyers. She advised that the developer would be completing sidewalk
construction within 30 days and needed to know if the Council wanted parking meters or
not.
In response to Viee Mayor Ruskin's questions, Coordinator Jones-Thomas advised that
one of the viable options open to the Council was installing underground sleeves with
covers which, at a later date, could be filled in with concrete if meters were not wanted, or
filled with parking meter poles, if they were desired.
In response to Couneil Member Hartnett's questions, Coordinator Jones-Thomas said
there was time to obtain an amendment to the development agreement without delaying
the plans of the project.
Couneil Member Hartnett expressed concern that City actions might delay the
completion of the project and negatively impact the developer's financial arrangements.
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 DECEMBER 1,1997
MINUTES Page No. 080 PAGE 8
