parties who negotiate the settlement are insensitive to the desires of other interested
parties."
Mr. Gerald Seher, 906 Governors Bay Drive, Vice President of Redwood Shores Owners
Association, said he is pleased with the alteration from a 4-story building to a 2-story
building and hoped that architecturally, as the plans move forward, everyone will be happy
with the outcome. He said other issues such as traffic would be addressed at some time in
the future, but the RSOA Board was hopeful a compromise could be achieved. He added
that the Board realized there were certain rights of the owners, and hoped that a resolution,
short oflitigation, could be reached and all parties would be happy.
Miehael Gibson, 70 Sara Lane, Alamo, architect representing Redwood Shores Owners
Association, said that RSOA had talked with the developer over the last few weeks
regarding the design of the building site plan and the building elevations, and were
generally agreeable to them. He hoped there would be adequate opportunity for the
Architectural Review Committee to review the plans. He also wanted everyone to know
that they had not been party to the negotiations and had not seen the agreernent.
Pat Dixon, 16 Admiralty Place, referred to her letter asking Council Members to drive
around Redwood Shores to see what Westport had done to Boardwalk and other
condominiums. She said no one wanted an office complex of any kind in a residential area,
and she would like to see that area developed with possibly a tennis court, a driving range,
or some other open facility. She said the residents of the area were never informed that an
office complex would be in that area, they are very upset about it, and they would not have
bought had they known there could be a commercial building in that area.
George Duebner, 936 Governors Bay Drive, said he was passionate about pursuing
Redwood Shores residents' legal rights in accordance with Govemment Code 66452.6 G
and H. He said when he bought in the area, he did not know that there would be
commercial development and people commuting to and from that location, and his main
concern was that his child will have to cross that traffic on his way to school. He urged the
Council not to put any child's life at risk and referred to the other intersection in Redwood
Shores where a little girl tragically lost her life.
Elmer Orliek, 834 Intrepid Lane, described a meeting he attended with the City, Redwood
Shores Homeowners Association, and the developers at which time the Lido Plaza Project
was discussed. Regarding Mr. Anderlini's comments on the zoning and the 2-year period,
Mr. Orlick said he set aside the zoning in Foster City about nine years ago on that point.
He said this developer had failed to get a building permit before the two-year limit, and
therefore would have to start over. He referred to letters from the City Clerk about
postponement of this subject, twice, and asked if the required procedure had been followed.
Couneilman Claire said the first postponement of this issue was requested by the
developer, and the second postponement to tonight was requested by LaVerne Atherly,
representing Redwood Shores Homeowners Association.
ADJOURNED REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 DECEMBER 18,1997
MINUTES Page No. 116 PAGE II
