Sandpiper Park Project; (100) <br /> 1) Report: Councilwoman Buchan, Chair of the Council Facilities Committee: <br /> REPORT: Council Facilities Committee, February 24,1997 <br /> Councilwoman Buchan, Chair of the Council Facilities Committee, reported that <br /> recently the Committee had reported to Council that the bids for the Park "had come in <br /> well below the budgeted leveL" She also reminded Council that everyone agreed "we <br /> wanted this to be the highest quality project possible." <br /> Councilwoman Buchan said the original budget was $2.1 million, and the lowest <br /> responsible bid was $1,859,290. The Committee (Council Members Buchan, Claire <br /> and La Berge) had met with the Belmont School District and both groups were <br /> recommending additional work on the Park project, accepting ten alternative items, <br /> within the scope of work and available funds. <br /> Councilwoman Buchan said the Committee had also met with staff members who <br /> advised too many necessary items had been cut ITom the original plan, and the <br /> Committee concurred that those amenities should be added back into the Project. She <br /> said the cost of the additional work had to be negotiated with the contractor, but <br /> definitely would not exceed the available $240,710. Councilwoman Buchan said <br /> timing was critical and asked Council to support the Committee's recommendations. <br /> 2) Council comments on bid alternatives; <br /> Mayor Hartnett asked if anyone ITom the public wished to speak. No one came <br /> forward. <br /> 3) MIS: LA BERGEIRUSKIN APPROVE THE ADDITIONAL SCOPE OF WORK FOR <br /> SITE WORK ON THE SANDPIPER PARK PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br /> $240,000 (B & B Concrete). <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE OF THE SIX COUNCIL MEMBERS IN <br /> ATTENDANCE. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 97-041 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 6.
