The Proclamation
stated the Girl Scouts had pledged to perform one million hours of community service
during their Anniversary year. Mayor Pro Tem Howard described her ITeezer full of mint
Girl Scout cookies, and urged everyone to support the Girl Scouts by buying Girl Scout
Cookies.
Mrs. Lasher thanked the Council for the Proclamation. She said there were 20,000 Girl
Scouts in the Bay Area Council and 500 in Redwood City. Mrs. Lasher invited everyone to
call the Girl Scouts and suggest community service projects the Girl Scout troops could
adopt to fulfill their share of the million volunteer hours pledged. She also urged everyone
to buy Girl Scout cookies.
MEMO 3/3/97
B. I was very honored to receive the Award, and I appreciate your
acknowledging that. I would also like to say that I am a little embarrassed about receiving
the award, as a lot of the work that went into this wasn't just me - it was the entire
Redwood City Police Officers Association. There was no way I could have done
everything that was done by myself. It was a group effort. On behalf of myself and the
Redwood City Police Officers Association, I would like to thank you."
Officer Osborne received a standing ovation.
MEMO 3/10/97
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 MARCH 10, 1997
MINUTES Page No. 188 PAGE 2
