- . .. ,.,
Councilman Leipzig said he also had received many calls ITom residents regarding this
issue, as all Council Members had, and he had been discussing this situation with the City
Manager. He agreed that the Council needed to be involved. He advised that the state of
- California had mandated that all cities provide a certain amount of low income housing, and
the Woodside City Council did not really want to build its required low income housing on
the proposed surplus land, but needed to abide by the state mandate. Councilman Leipzig
said he had discussed using any avenue, such as water, access or sewer rights, to impact
decisions in that area. He added that he believed the City of Woodside would not actually
build low income housing on that land.
Mayor Hartnett thanked Mr. Anderson for bringing this issue to Council's attention, and
said although this item was not on the published agenda and the Council could not make
decisions about it, it was an issue Council and staff were very concerned about and would
continue to address.
MEMO 4/8/97
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
