ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (203)
A. Pete Hughes, 18 Admiralty Court, reported that last Thursday night the Belmont
Elementary School District Board changed its name to the Belmont and Redwood Shores
Elementary School District. Mr. Hughes asked if the Redwood City Council or staff had
been contacted by the School Board to see if there were any objections to using a
neighborhood name. He said, "I live in Redwood City. My neighborhood happens to be
Redwood Shores... I am mildly insulted, or maybe I am just being too sensitive."
',-- Mayor Hartnett reported that the District Board had notified the City, but had not solicited
input. He added, "Mr. Hughes, I don't think you are being too sensitive."
MTNUTE BOOK NO. 55
Page No. 253
