Councilman Ruskin told Mrs. Grove that he would be happy to learn more about the issue,
--- and "make sure your thoughts are communicated to the right people." He advised he would
contact her.
MEMO 4/22/97
Vice Mayor Howard said, "We are encouraging strong neighborhood participation in
solving problems, and we have a brand new Principal at Sequoia as well as a brand new
Superintendent at Sequoia, and they have been quite receptive to the community so far."
She suggested that staff might coordinate a neighborhood meeting with the Principal and
Superintendent, and perhaps one City Council Member to discuss neighborhood problems.
City Manager Everett suggested a staff report would be helpful to provide context.
MEMO 4/22/97
Councilman Claire reported that Jim Centis was President of the Neighborhood Boards
and chairman of the committee that established pennit parking near the schools. He added
that resolving these neighborhood issues takes a policy that is well understood by the
schools and students. Councilman Claire suggested that area be targeted for enforcement
by a Task Force.
Mayor Hartnett referred this matter to staff.
- MEMO 4/22/97
D. John Murphy, 421 Luff, asked if any item on the Consent Calendar was being funded with
GID 1-64 monies.
City Attorney Schricker said, "items on the Consent Calendar, the construction items and
so forth, sources of funding for those are mainly Capital Improvements and various sources.
I am not aware of any specific General Improvement District projects. All the public
projects in Redwood Shores area, as you now know, are funded by the Facilities Fees... The
Improvement District revenues are virtually exclusively applied to debt service. No more
capital projects are funded ITom that."
City Manager Everett advised that there were no GID 1-64 funds being expended on any
Consent Calendar items.
MEMO 4/22/97
--.-
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 APRIL 21, 1997
MINUTES Page No. 255 PAGE 3
