7.1.E. - Page 34
Task 2. Carson Reservoir
Consultant will develop the contract documents to seismically-upgrade Carson
Reservoir. Two upgrades will be developed:
• Roof upgrade for seismic loads. This may include retention of the existing roof
diaphragm and roofing system; or replacement of part or all of the existing
roofing system with a steel corrugated panel system.
• Modify the alignment of an existing portion of the outlet pipe where it crosses
over/under the nearby BDPL 3 and 4 pipelines. This reflects that a recent
modification to this pipe put it over BDPL 3, resulting in an inverted siphon that
limits access to the water in the lower part of the Carson reservoir. The new pipe
alignment will be at a grade line to allow for access to all water in the reservoir
via gravity flow.
During the course of the design effort, Consultant expect to be informed as to whether
portions (or all) of this work is co-funded by grants from FEMA. In order to ensure
correct book-keeping for FEMA purposes, all costs associated with Task 3 will be
tracked separately.
Required Submitals:
25% and 50% Design Submittal and Review
The final engineering and design will be performed to meet the intent of the AC1 318
and AC1 359 codes, complemented by IBC 2009, ALA (2005) and other industry
documents as appropriate_ Seismic response modification factors shall be no higher
than allowed by code for new construction, or lower if existing detailing does not provide
suitable ductility to meet the intended performance.
Consultant shall submit final structural calculations, stamped and wet signed by a
California Professional Engineer (Mr. Eidinger or Dr. Duggan for civil and structural
work).
Final drawings shall be in D size (24x36 inch) format.
The potential list of drawings is listed in Table 3.
ATTYfAGR12012.0011G&E ENGINEERING Page 17 of 30
RGr•nanr
