5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Recognition of the Winners of the Green Business Awards — Alicia C. <br /> Aguirre, Mayor, Sean Brooks, Economic Development Manager, and the <br /> winners: Trillium Dental, The Kastrop Group, Inc. Architects, Lyngso <br /> Garden Materials, Office City, LiveOps, Inc., and San Mateo County <br /> Historical Association <br /> Mayor Aguirre presented the Green Business Awards. Mr. Brooks thanked the <br /> applicants for this award. He stated that businesses had to implement at least seven <br /> strategies to reduce costs and be more efficient. Mayor Aguirre presented the awards <br /> to the six businesses in attendance. <br /> B. Proclamation in Recognition of Fire Prevention Week — presented by <br /> Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor to Jim Palisi, Fire Marshal <br /> Mayor Aguirre stated that this week was designated Fire Prevention Week and <br /> presented the proclamation to Mr. Palisi. Mr. Palisi thanked the Council for bringing <br /> awareness to this important issue. He provided tips on fire prevention and facts. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Ted Kal spoke about parking and driving issues in the City and the trend of single- <br /> occupant cars on the road and freeways. He is concerned that the amount of cars on <br /> the road will continue to grow until people are unable to drive efficiently anywhere. He <br /> stated that parking permits will no longer be issued for the parking lots and he asked <br /> that it be addressed. <br /> Tania Sole spoke about her sewer disconnection in September. She stated there was <br /> supposed to be a letter delivered to her prior to the disconnection, but she did not <br /> receive it. She has requested her sewer line be reconnected and has brought a written <br /> claim to be presented to the City Clerk. <br /> Nancy Radcliffe said the second annual "Haunting at Union Cemetery" would be held <br /> on October 19th. She spoke about who the fundraiser would benefit and what kinds of <br /> events that would take place. <br /> 7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> M/S SeybertJlra to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. Motion carried <br /> 6-0 by electronic vote with Council Member Pierce absent. <br /> 1. Section - Motion(s) <br /> A.
