5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY - None. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Benjamin Martin, representing Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, spoke about the <br /> service his business does for new businesses in the City of Redwood City and offered to <br /> meet with Council Members. <br /> Eric Brugger, representing Brugger Corporation doing business as Brockway Properties, <br /> spoke about the history of his company in this city and their concerns about the 101 bike <br /> path underpass concept as described in the newspaper. He noted that they have many <br /> questions and they have submitted letters to the City for the official record. <br /> Mayor Aguirre said the City would follow up with him. <br /> Carey Sewell stated that he was a victim of the 926 Woodside Road fire and the <br /> firefighters put on a benefit dinner for the victims. He stated that he was overwhelmed <br /> by the love of the community and firefighters there. He asked if something could be <br /> done for the firefighters who have not stopped giving to these victims. <br /> Nia Sewell stated that when the fire happened, she was overcome with generosity and <br /> support from neighbors and friends. She spoke about the generosity of the community <br /> to help the victims. <br /> 7. CITY COUNCIL RE-ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED BY CITY CLERK <br /> A. Swearing in New Council Members by City Clerk and presentation of <br /> Certificates of Election to newly elected Council Members <br /> Mayor Aguirre opened Public Comment again. <br /> Mark Nogales, representing Congresswoman Jackie Speier, spoke about Council <br /> Member Ira and his contributions to the community. He presented a congressional <br /> record resolution. <br /> City Clerk Vonderlinden swore in the three incoming Council Members individually. <br /> They all took a seat at the dais. <br /> B. Comments by Alicia C. Aguirre, Outgoing Mayor <br /> Mayor Aguirre thanked her husband for his support during her time serving as Mayor. <br /> She thanked Dr. Bell, City Manager, for his guidance. She also thanked Ms. <br /> Thompson, City Attorney and Ms. Vonderlinden, City Clerk for their commitment. She <br /> spoke to the character of everyone on the Redwood City Staff and she thanked her <br /> students and friends. <br /> Dr. Bell, City Manager, recognized Mayor Aguirre for her service.
