B. John Murphy, 421 Luff Lane, Redwood City, commented on the remarks ofa speaker
at the Council Meeting of October 21,1996 during a report on the Aqua Terra Project to
clean up Redwood City waterways, who asked Council to support transferring Bair
Island to the U.S. Wildlife Refuge. Mr. Murphy urged Council not to support the
transfer of any land in the GID 1-64 to any non-profit agency which would result in the
loss of millions of dollars of market value land and an increased tax burden on the
residents in the GID 1-64.
Vice Mayor Howard, Chair of the Pride and Beautification Committee which supported
the Aqua Terra Project, assured Mr. Murphy that the speaker was not a member of, nor
did she speak for the Pride and Beautification Committee. Vice Mayor Howard said the
Committee had not taken a position on the future of Bair Island.
MEMO 11/5/96
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
