9.A. - Page 11 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY AMENDING DIVISIONS 4 THROUGH 12 OF ARTICLE VII OF <br /> CHAPTER 20 OF THE CITY CODE OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO <br /> PARKING IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES <br /> ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. The City Council adopts the following findings: <br /> A. The City of Redwood City completed a parking study in 2013 which made <br /> recommendations to improve the operation and management of the parking program so <br /> that it better meets the changing needs of downtown activities and businesses; and <br /> B. The City Council of the City of Redwood City supported the recommendations <br /> of the parking study at its meeting of October 21 , 2013 and directed staff to return with <br /> implementing actions; and <br /> C. The City of Redwood City and its Council acknowledge the benefit of <br /> managing parking through market-based pricing; and <br /> D. The City of Redwood City and its Council reaffirm that the parking system <br /> should be managed to ensure that it covers its operating costs; and <br /> E. The parking permit program can be managed more efficiently and be more <br /> responsive to changing dynamics under the direction of the City Manager; and <br /> F. The methodology for setting parking rates can be clarified to better reflect <br /> current practice and expectations and comply with laws; and <br /> G. This ordinance is adopted in accordance with Chapter 9 (STOPPING, <br /> STANDING, AND PARKING) of Division 11 of the California Vehicle Code. <br /> Section 2. The Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown in <br /> the following Sections by adding the text shown in underlined italics (example) and <br /> deleting the text shown in strikeout (fie). The preceding Section, following table of <br /> ATTY/ORD.402/PARKING ORDINANCE <br /> REV:04-24-14 VR <br /> Page 1 of 19 <br />
