However,a lot <br /> that without vegetation and with sediment accumulated in pavement gaps probably has a <br /> lower infiltration rate than a lot with vegetation,because the grass roots facilitate water flow <br /> through the soil media.Were permeable applications to be ranked by permeability the follow- <br /> ing hierarchy would apply: <br /> • Unclogged PICP with aggregate fill,PC,PA —Highest <br /> Ii • Pavement with sediment accumulation with vegetation—Much Lower <br /> • Pavement with sediment accumulation without vegetation—Lowest <br /> Designers should remember that wh en a'grassed permeable pavement application is sped- <br /> fied,.:the,.designer is sacrificing infiltration for aesthetics. <br /> Maintaining Permeable Pavements 7 <br />
