7.3.B. - Page 3 ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> IN SUPPORT OF MEASURE A, THE SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL <br /> DISTRICT BOND INITIATIVE ON THE JUNE 3, 2014 BALLOT <br /> WHEREAS, Measure A will be on the June 3, 2014 ballot; and <br /> WHEREAS, the amount of the bond will be $265 million and would cost property <br /> taxpayers approximately $16 per $100,000 of assessed valuation; and <br /> WHEREAS, bond funds would provide additional classrooms and labs, as well as <br /> updated technology, to continue the district's strong academic programs as its student <br /> enrollment grows, including: <br /> • Science, math and other core academics <br /> • Career training and vocational programs <br /> • Advanced programs that prepare students for college and careers <br /> • Updated career technology facilities and classroom technology; and <br /> WHEREAS, Measure A will avoid school overcrowding, help protect our high <br /> schools' diverse curriculum, and ensure students can enroll in the classes they require; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, all bond funds would benefit local high schools and could not be taken <br /> by the state; and <br /> WHEREAS, the measure would qualify the district for future state matching funds <br /> when they become available; and <br /> WHEREAS, a citizen oversight committee and annual audits would be required to <br /> ensure that funds are used for voter-approved purposes. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> That the City Council of Redwood City does hereby support and endorse Measure <br /> A, the Sequoia Union High School District Bond Initiative. <br /> * * * <br /> ATTY/RESO.2978/CC SUPPORT OF MEASURE A SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL <br /> REV:05-05-14 PT <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br />
