ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 14-07 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING A HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> PERMIT FOR THE RESTORATION OF AN ORNAMENTAL IRON <br /> FENCE AT THE GRAVESITE OF ALFRED LATHROP AT THE <br /> HISTORIC UNION CEMETERY PURSUANT TO THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY'S HISTORIC PRESERVATION ORDINANCE <br /> WHEREAS, Applicant, The Historic Union Cemetery Association, has <br /> submitted an application for a Historic Preservation Permit for the restoration of the <br /> Alfred Lathrop gravesite fence in the Historic Union Cemetery; and <br /> WHEREAS, on November 14, 2013, pursuant to Section 40.9 of the <br /> Redwood City Municipal Code, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) <br /> held a meeting to consider the project and unanimously recommended approval of <br /> two options for restoration of the fence: Option A to utilize custom made materials <br /> and Option B to utilize premade materials that closely resemble the original <br /> materials, along with placement of a commemorative plaque noting the history of the <br /> fence and the differences between the new and original materials; and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 20, 2014, the Planning Commission opened a public <br /> hearing, in accordance with all applicable requirements of the Redwood City <br /> Municipal Code, to consider approval of Historic Preservation Permit Application; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that the proposed work will not <br /> adversely affect the Historic Union Cemetery and will be compatible with the external <br /> appearance of existing designated improvements, building, and structures on the <br /> site pursuant to the Permit Approval Criteria in Section 40.10 of the Redwood City <br /> Municipal Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that the proposed <br /> improvements are in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for <br /> Restoration and Reconstruction; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission has determined that the proposed Historic <br /> Preservation Permit would further the purposes of and appropriately implement the <br /> City of Redwood City General Plan and applicable provisions of the Redwood City <br /> Municipal Code. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LANNING COMMISSION <br /> OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> ATTY/RES0.2970/PC RESO HISTORIC PRESERVATION OF THE ALFRED LATHROP GRAVESITE FENCE <br /> REV:05-05-14 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
