7.3.A. - Page 1
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
June 9, 2014
SUBJECT
Set Public Hearing for Adopting Fiscal Year 2014-15 Budget
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution setting the date of June 23, 2014 for the public hearing and formal
action on the FY 2014-15 budget.
BACKGROUND
Section 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter requires that the City Council establish, by
resolution, the date for the budget public hearing and the budget resolution adoption.
ANALYSIS
It is recommended that this public hearing along with the adoption of the budget
resolution take place on June 23, 2014.
ALTERNATIVES
Section 51.5 of the City Charter requires that the Council establish, by resolution, a date
upon which the budget resolution shall be presented and a public hearing held. The
above date was approved in concept at the February 24, 2014 Council meeting. It is,
however, the Council's prerogative to select the date they believe is the most
appropriate.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this recommendation. Adopting the FY
2014-15 budget without setting a public hearing would not be in compliance with the
City Charter.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This ordinance is not a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental
Quality Act. (Public Resource Code § 21065; Guidelines § 15378)
BRIAN PONTY
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
