7.4.A. - Page 4 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY AMENDING DIVISION 4 OF ARTICLE VII OF CHAPTER 20 OF THE <br /> CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO PARKING IN <br /> THE DOWNTOWN AREA <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES <br /> ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. The City Council adopts the following findings: <br /> A. The City Council regularly suspends parking meter rates on holidays and <br /> for major city festivals; <br /> B. Adopting approved holidays and events will increase staff efficiency; and <br /> C. This Ordinance is adopted in accordance with Chapter 9 (STOPPING, <br /> STANDING, AND PARKING) of Division 11 of the California Vehicle <br /> Code. <br /> Section 2. The Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown in <br /> the following Sections by adding the text shown in underlined italics (example) and <br /> deleting the text shown in strikeout (°).Text in brackets [example] is informational <br /> only and need not be published in the Municipal Code. <br /> Section 3. Chapter 20, Article VII, Division 4 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 20.133. PROVISIONS FOR TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF METER RATES: <br /> A. Parking meter rates shall be suspended and shall not be charged nor due <br /> and payable on the following holidays: January 1, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (third <br /> Monday in January), Presidents' Day (third Monday in February), Memorial Day (last <br /> Monday in May), July 4, Labor Day (first Monday in September), Veterans Day <br /> (November 11), Thanksgiving Day, and December 25. Additionally, parking meter rates <br /> shall be suspended and shall not be charged nor due and payable on the day of the City's <br /> Salsa Festival (or its equivalent festival) or the day of the City's Hometown Holidays <br /> festival (or its equivalent festival). <br /> B. The provisions of this Division may be suspcndcd from timc to timc by <br /> motion of the City Council may, by motion, suspend the provisions of this Division, <br /> including parking meter rates and the requirement to pay parking meter fees, at additional <br /> times and/or days in any case where the Council finds that strict compliance would not <br /> serve the public interest, including but not limited to the use of public streets and <br /> sidewalks for celebrations, special public events, celebration of holiday seasons and any <br /> other such activity or purpose as the City Council in its sole discretion shall determine. <br /> ATTY/ORD.403/TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF PARKING METER RATES <br /> REV:06-03-14 VR <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
