Claire <br />Council Member Daniela Gasparini M I NUT E S <br />Council Member Jack Greenalch <br />Council Member Georgi La Berge CITY COUNC I L <br />Council Member Paul Sanfilipo 401 MARSHALL ST. <br />Council Member Janet Steinfeld REDWOOD CITY, CA <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> JANUARY 17, 1994 <br />CALL TO ORDER - 7:34 P.M., Mayor Buchan presiding <br />ROLL CALL <br />Council Members present: Gasparini, Greenalch, La Berge, Sanfilipo, <br /> Steinfeld, and Mayor Buchan <br />Council Members absent: Claire <br />Officials and staff present: Everett, Schricker, Jorgenson and Ponty, <br /> Irizarry, Hildebrand, Granucci, Harper, <br /> Church, Luck, Jones-Thomas <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Councilwoman La Berge <br />INVOCATION - Reverend James Lockwood-Stewart, First United Methodist Church, <br /> offered prayers for the victims of the Northridge earthquake, and <br /> honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s memory and his work for <br /> equality and justice. <br />Mayor Buchan also paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with personal <br />remembrances of a society badly needing change, the journey towards civil <br />rights that Dr. King began, and the long way we have to go to fulfill his <br />dream. <br />1. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />A. Joe Steinfeld, Main Street merchant, read a letter from Councilwoman <br />Steinfeld addressed to State Senator Campbell and Assemblyman Sher asking <br />them to give serious consideration to introducing a School Children's <br />Safety Bill of Rights, and gave Council photographs of traffic dangers <br />affecting school children. Mr. Steinfeld asked everyone to report any <br />unsafe measures they observed around schools or school buses by calling <br />369-COPS and he would report it to the authorities. <br />B. Salvador Sandoval, Spring Street resident, thanked Council, especially <br />Council Members Greenalch and Steinfeld, for setting the February 7, 1994 <br />study session on gunfire in East Redwood City, and asked the Council to <br /> Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> January 17, 1994 <br /> Page 1 MINUTE BOOK NO. 52 <br /> Page No. 93 <br /> - cce_e_..cc..e'T'.CCC." -. <br />
