ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Anthony Apton, Page Street, Redwood City, advised the Council that the temporary,
portable homes installed on Taft School property behind his house some years ago, are now
being made permanent with cement foundations. Mr. Apton stated that 30 redwood trees were
removed to make room for these units, and their use created problems with noise, graffiti and
children and adults running through his yard. Also, aesthetically, his quality of life has
diminished, and the value of his home has depreciated from $250,000 to $190,000. Mr. Apton
asked how the school received a conditional use permit for this project when the City nor the
School District can produce any plans.
Council advised Mr. Apton that staff would look into this situation, but advised that Taft
School was the property of the Redwood City Elementary School District and as such the
School Board was the appropriate agency to deal with this matter.
MEMO 7/12/94
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- r
I
MINUTE BOOK NO. 52
Page No. 300
