ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Marie Rickes, Harbor Village Mobile Home Park, Redwood City, addressed
Council stating she was again seeking Council action regarding the
concerns of mobile home park tenants, including: 1) space rents; 2)
vacancy control and decontrol; and 3) park conversions. Mrs. Rickes
described the background of mobile home park tenants attempts to maintain
parks as low to moderate income housing and Council involvement in
negotiations with the owners to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution.
Mrs. Rickes advised Mobile Home Zoning must be kept to protect their
homes, and asked what was the status of the rent stabilization ordinance
Council directed staff to prepare last November. City Attorney Schricker
advised that the ordinance, after many revisions to comply with court
decisions, was sent today to the City Manager for review and would soon
be submitted to the Council for their consideration. City Attorney
Schricker also advised that on May 26, 1992 he will be in the Court of
Appeals in San Francisco arguing on behalf of the Redwood City Mobile
Home Zoning designation.
