ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Linda Edwards, 27 Flower Street, advised Council that she had received a <br /> violation notice under Code Section 14.72 (6) and was told she had to cut <br /> her seven foot hedge. Ms. Edwards stated that Flower Street is a cul- <br /> de-sac off Industrial Road across from the Circle Star Theatre and the <br /> hedge serves as a buffer to the noise and traffic created by the Theatre, <br /> Industrial Road and the Bayshore freeway. Ms. Edwards advised she was <br /> told her only recourse was to apply for a variance at a cost of $200.00, <br /> and asked Council if there were other alternatives available to her. In <br /> response to Council questions, City Attorney Schricker described citation <br /> process. <br /> Tom Wolgat, 24 Flower Street, advised Council he also had received a <br /> violation notice and was told his hedge had to be cut. Mr. Wolgat told <br /> Council there was no through traffic on this small street, he and his <br /> neighbors were very careful drivers, and there was some visibility <br /> through the hedge. <br /> Council Members described the many months of hearings and meetings with <br /> neighborhood groups to reach a compromise ordinance to ensure safety, <br /> fairness and quality of life.
