ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Joe Steinfeld, 850 Main Street, Redwood City, husband of Janet Steinfeld,
candidate for Council, alleged wrongdoing by a newspaper and several
candidates for Council. City Attorney Schricker advised everyone that
the Council could only consider subject matter within its legislative
authority and Mr. Steinfeld's remarks were therefore inappropriate in
this forum.
B. Jack Castle, Redwood City Port Commissioner, offered an apology for the
words he used at a Port Commission meeting to describe a mailer by a
candidate for Council.
C. Jim Honjas, 2107 Broadway, Redwood City, asked Council not to consider
the suggestion to hire an economic developer for the downtown area, and
advised that the Downtown Association was willing and able to promote and
develop the area on its own. Council advised there are no plans at this
time to hire an economic developer for the downtown area, and if it is
considered in the future the Downtown Association would be invited back
at that time.
D. Matt Leddy, D Street, Redwood City, asked Council for help in controlling
the potentially dangerous traffic problems that might occur this Saturday
night, Halloween, in his neighborhood, across the street from the Circle
Star Theatre and parking lot, when young trick or treaters might be
endangered by theatre-goers driving around before and after the
performance.
MINUTE BOOK NO. 51
Page No. 228
