PUBLIC HEARING - Proposed move of donated house from 1052 High Street, Palo
Alto to 600 Hilton Street, Redwood City (203 -04, 1501 -01). Affidavits of
Publicaton and mailing are on file in the City Clerk Department.
Report: Community Development Director, 9/13/90
Housinq Director Church presented the staff report and in response to
Council questions advised the cost of moving the house to Redwood City and
constructing a foundation would be approximately $34,000 excluding all
improvements which would add $15,000 to $20,000; the building is in good
shape and future use has not been established, although the City proposes
leasing it for use as transitional housing for homeless youth.
Councilman Stangel described the house at 1052 High Street as over 50 years
old, in need of substantial improvements and repairs, and inadequate size
for its proposed use. The $34,000 from the City and the $50,000 available
from Mr. Rich Gordon of Youth and Family Assistance would result in an old
substandard structure which would be so inadequate as to necessitate
a second story addition which would result in a remodeled building that
would cost more than a new structure.
MINUTE BOOK NO. 50
Page No. 062
Reg.
