RESOLUTION NO. 16-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPT THE MAIN STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT EXPANSION AND DESIGNATE THE PROPERTIES AT 847-849 MAIN STREET, 935 MAIN STREET, AND 1101 MAIN STREET AS HISTORIC LANDMARKS WHEREAS, Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Code sets forth criteria and procedures by which the Planning Commission may recommend the designation of historic districts and historic landmarks to the City Council; and WHEREAS, on October 28, 2002, the City Council adopted the Main Street Historic District; and WHEREAS, on March 3, 2015, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the Planning Commission held a joint study session at which the Planning Commission indicated that an expansion of the Main Street Historic District (the "Main Street Historic District Expansion") was an objective worthy of merit; and WHEREAS, on March 24, 2015, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee held an informational meeting for all property owners within the proposed Main Street Historic District Expansion area; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the City of Redwood City's Historic Preservation Ordinance, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee has recommended in writing that the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council adopt the Main Street Historic District Expansion and designate the three properties located at 847-849 Main Street, 935 Main Street, and 1101 Main Street as local historic landmarks; and WHEREAS, on June 21, 2016, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed public hearing and considered public comments, the Main Street Historic District Expansion and local historic landmark requests from the Historic Resources Advisory Committee, and the accompanying staff report; and WHEREAS, following the proposed Main Street Historic District Expansion, the expanded historic district consists of the following addresses and related assessor's parcel numbers (addresses and parcel numbers of contributing properties in bold): 1991, 2000, 2020, 2022-2024 Broadway; 726, ATTY/RES0.0056/PC RESO MAIN STREET EXPANSION REV:06-17-16 VR Page 1 of 3
