1801
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5158 APPROVING CONTRACT WITH
ACTUARIAL CONSULTANTS OF THE STATE EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO PERFORM VALUATION
SERVICES REQUIRED BY LAW, AND AUTHORIZING ITS EXECUTION, AND APPROVING THE EXPENDI-
TURE OF $390 FROM THE
FUND FOR SAID SERVICES, seconded by Councilman
Keckley and carried on roll call vote.
City Manager stated funds for these services have been budgeted.
Progress Report, Council College Site Committee. (Councilman Rosselli, Chairman)
Councilman Rosselli read report, stating that Councilmen Henderson and Bury assisted
him on this Committee. Mayor Herkner commended him on preparing a very informative
and excellent report. (For full text see Clerk's file, State College Site)
Specific recommendations were as follows:
"Water
Supplying the proposed site with water presented little or no problem as a San
Francisco Hetch Hetchy aqueduct borders the property and the bond issue for General
Improvement District 2-65 provides for the construction of a 12 -inch water line which
will traverse the subject property. In effect, this means that water will be avail-
able to the property. It should be pointed out, however, that the cost of any over -
sizing of water facilities necessary to meet the future needs of the college should
logically be borne by the college system.
Sewers
Based upon enrollment and population projections supplied by the architects, the
City's consultants, Jenks and Adamson, have prepared a preliminary estimate of con-
struction costs to extend1the sewer facilities to the site. The following estfinates
must be considered as preliminary in nature because existing data will require
reevaluation when more specific information becomes available.
1. INITIAL PROJECT TO PROVIDE SEWER TO COLLEGE SITE:
Construct 15 -inch VCP Sanitary Sewer from Cordilleras Road at Canyon Road to College
Boundary on Edgewood Road via Cordilleras and Edgewood Road.
Estimated Construction Cost $84,000.00
2. FUTURE PROJECT - RELIEVE "HOPKINS" TRUNK SEWER WHICH WILL BE OVERLOADED WHEN
COLLEGE POPULATION REACHES 14,000+:
Construct 15 -inch VCP Sanitary Sewer from Hopkins at Nevada to Bradford at Main via
Hopkins, Allerton and Bradford.
Estimated Construction Cost $215,000.00
3. FUTURE PROJECT - REPLACE SECTION OF EDGEWOOD TRUNK WHICH WILL BE OVERLOADED WHEN
COLLEGE POPULATION REACHES 17,000+:
Construct 15 -inch VCP Sanitary Sewer on Edgewood Road between Alameda de las Pulgas
and Scenic.
Estimated Construction Cost
$37,000.00
It is difficult to determine when Phases 2 and 3 would be required as the architects'
growth rate projections do not go beyond a period of eight years. In the opinion of
the City's consultants, however, it is reasonable to assume that these projects would
not be needed for about twelve to fifteen years after the college opened."
