Gardella, Assistant City
Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief William Faulstich, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi,
Planning Director Ken Schroeter, Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Auditor -
Accountant Jack Ference, and Deputy City Clerk Marian McCrindle.
Councilman Granger moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of December 18, 19675
as mailed, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried.
Application of J. R. and M. A. McMILLAN for exception to the Subdivision Ordinance to
subdivide one parcel into two parcels, at 965 Upland Rd., consisting of 0.52 acres
more or less, being 148.55 feet by 219.39 feet more or less on Southerly line of
Upland Road, Easterly portion of Lot 4, Block 28, Oak Knoll Manor, in a R-1 Dis-
trict, presented for consideration.
Report of the Planning Commission read in which it was stated Commission had
recommended that the exception be authorized to allow the rear parcel to have
access and frontage of 20 feet in width on Upland Road and 108 feet in length, and
that the map be approved subject to the exception being granted, and subject fur-
ther to the following conditions:
1. That the property be served by a six-inch water main in
accordance with the requirements of the Water Superintendent
and the Fire Department.
2. That a seven -foot -in -width strip be dedicated along Upland
Road for street widening purposes.
3. That the access -way to the rear parcel be incresed from 10
feet -in -width to a minimum of 20 feet.
4. That both parcels be connected to the existing sewer,
including the existing residence.
5. That any additional sewer lateral and/or water services be
installed at no expense to the City.
Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5575 GRANTING EXCEPTION TO CERTAIN
PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY , BEING THE SUB-
DIVISION REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND APPROVING A SUBDIVISION THERE-
UNDER-J.R. AND M.A. McMILLAN, seconded by Councilman Bury.
On question, Council requested further details on the parcel division; whether
access is approved by Fire Chief; effect of access proposed to setback of existing
building and whether lot split would create another building site. Planning Direc-
tor explained the lot division as it would effect reduction of square footage on
the front parcel, agreeing that a buildable site would be presumed to be created by
the division of the parcel as proposed but would be subject to complying with
building permit requirements, and all other requirements which were not a part of
this proceeding. Fire Chief advised there were no objections to be raised on the
20' access to the rear parcel as many other similar situations exist throughout the
City.
Planning Director also advised the proposed access would necessitate either moving
or tearing down of the present structure adjacent thereto, as maintaining its pre-
sent position would not comply with the conditions recommended, if exception granted.
Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Henderson voting no.
,M 6se
