<br /> DA~ o.dj k 12/17/87 (#5) <br /> DA. jjk 01/14/88R <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> 1964 FEB 1 1988 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1964 <br /> <br /> --------- <br /> ORDINANCE DECLARING THE INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO <br /> LOWER THE INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR TAXICABS FOR A <br /> PERIOD OF ONE YEAR <br /> WHEREAS, the taxicab companies operating in the City of <br />Redwood City have been recently unable to obtain insurance <br />coverage in the amounts required by Section 33.28 of the Redwood <br />City Code, and have requested this Council to lower the <br />requirements for insurance coverage until such time as they are <br />again able to obtain the required amount of insurance coverage; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council acknowledges the hardship imposed upon <br />taxicab companies in being unable to obtain the statutorily <br />required levels of coverage and further acknowledges the public <br />necessity for continued taxicab service in the City of Redwood <br />City; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> l. This Council hereby declares its intent to suspend, for <br />a period of one (1) year, the provision of Section 33.28 of the <br />Redwood City Code requiring insurance coverage of no less than <br />five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) on account of <br />personal injury to or death of any one (1) person in any one <br />accident and one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) on account of <br />the personal injuries to or death of two (2 ) or more persons in <br />anyone accident, and .not less than five hundred thousand dollars <br />($500,000.00) for damages to or destruction of property in any <br /> 1964 <br /> ..,.. __._m_.".. <br />
