( ,: sh 10/30/84 .... , SWC:sh 6/20/85R SWC:sh 11/12/85R ORIGINAL ORDINANCE NO. 1923 JAN 6 1986 ~¡00 --------- - ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 40.3, 40.4, 40.5, 40.7, 40.9, 40.10, 40.11, 40.14 AND 40.15 OF, AND ADDING SECTION 40.4.1 TO CHAPTER 40 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING TO HISTORIC PRESERVATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 40.3 of the Redwood City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 40.3. Definitions. The following words and phrases shall have the meaning respectively ascribed to them: " (a) 'Alteration' means any exterior change or modification, or private action, of any historic or cultural resource or of any property located within a historic district including, but not limited to, exterior changes to or modifications of structure, architectural details, or visual characteristics such as paint color and surface texture, grading, surface paving, new structures, cutting or removal of trees and other natural features, disturbance of archaeological sites or areas, and the placement or removal of any exterior objects such as signs, plaques, light fixtures, street furniture, walls, fences, steps, paintings, and landscape accessories affecting the exterior visual qualities of the property. 'Alteration' may also mean interior changes necessary to prevent deterioration and decay of any exterior architectural features. " (b) 'Commission' means the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City. " (c) 'Committee' means the Historic Resources Advisory Committee. " (d) 'Exterior architectural feature' means the architectural elements embodying style, design, general arrangement, and components of all of the outer surfaces of an improvement, including, but not limited to, the kind, color, and texture of 19 ~;j 1\ ... ~~~..-
