<br /> FXS: dft 6/19/94 (033/36) <br /> o RIG I N A L <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 12233 <br /> ---------- <br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE REDWOOD CITY PUBLIC <br /> LIBRARY, INCLUDING ALL BRANCHES, AS A GRAFFITI <br /> FREE ZONE <br />WHEREAS, the Redwood City Public Library is a valuable <br />community resource, and a source of public pride, which was <br />created and has been maintained for the public good; and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Library exists for the use and enjoyment <br />of all Redwood City's citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Library buildings, furniture, <br />furnishings and materials have experienced a high level of <br />graffiti and have been otherwise defaced, damaged, or destroyed; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to state publicly its <br />displeasure and disapproval of such defacement, damage and <br />destruction which devalues the aesthetic worth of the Library, <br />violates the aesthetic values of the community and is offensive <br />to public sensibilities; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to emphasize the need to <br />protect, care for and preserve the aesthetic and functional value <br />of the Public Library for proper use of the entire Redwood City <br />community; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Redwood City Public Library is declared to be a <br />Graffiti Free Zone. <br />2. The Library Director is hereby authorized and directed <br /> ,---' " <br />
