09/25/2017 RESOLUTION NO. 15622 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND NEGOTIATION TIMELINES IN THE AMENDED AND RESTATED AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF REDWOOD CITY AND SAN CARLOS FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES WHEREAS, on July 7, 2011, the City of Redwood City ("Redwood City") entered into that certain Agreement between the Cities of Redwood City and San Carlos ("San Carlos") for Fire & Emergency Services ("Original Agreement"); and WHEREAS, the Original Agreement was modified on October 19, 2011 and on August 13, 2012 as the cities continued to develop their working relationship; and WHEREAS, the cities thereafter entered in an Amended and Restated Agreement for Fire and Emergency Services (the "Agreement') which became effective on July 1, 2013; and WHEREAS, the Agreement is set to expire on June 30 2018, if the parties do not reach agreement on terms fora new agreement by June 30, 2017, and staff of both Redwood City and San Carlos have begun discussing the potential extension of services but have not reached agreement on terms; and WHEREAS, Redwood City and San Carlos desire to continue negotiations on an extension agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Managers of both Redwood City and San Carlos are requesting authority to extend the negotiation timelines set forth in the Agreement so that negotiations may continue in a cooperative manner towards an extension agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: The City Council of the City of Redwood City authorizes the City Manager to extend negotiation timelines in the Amended and Restated Agreement between the Cities of Redwood City and San Carlos for Fire and Emergency Services.
