Stangel <br />JOINT MEETING <br />M I N U T E S <br />JOINT MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL /PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Veterans Memorial Senior Center <br />February 26, 1985 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />The Council and the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City met on this <br />date at 7:30 p.m., with Mayor Britschgi presiding. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />ROLL CALL <br />Councilmen present: Bury, Chandler, Claire and Mayor Britschgi <br />Councilmen absent: Mosher, Rhodes and Stangel <br />Planninq Commissioners Present: Audsley, Balsamo, Beeger, Castle, Pappas, Poncia <br />and Chairman Rowe <br />Planning Commissioners Absent: None <br />Officials and staff present: Smith, Case, Schroeter, Reggetts <br />EL CAMINO REAL SPECIFIC PLAN <br />E1 Camino Real development projects <br />Planning Director Schroeter referred to a scale drawing of E1 Camino Real within <br />Redwood City limits in reviewing the process of development over the years of the <br />adjacent properties along the corridor, as well as changes which occurred to the <br />highway itself, such as the construction of the Woodside Road overpass in the <br />5- points area, which alleviated traffic congestion at that intersection, and the <br />reduction of the highway from six lanes to four, to allow for right- and left -turn <br />storage lanes at intersections. Mr. Schroeter identified the locations on the <br />drawing of numerous new commercial operations, noting a significant development of <br />the proposed Mid Peninsula Center on property adjacent to Gemco, and the fact that <br />what happens in the Gateway Redevelopment Project Area in the vicinity of Brewster <br />to James will have a significant effect on E1 Camino Real. <br />Joint Mtg. <br />2/26/85 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 45 <br />Page No. 285 <br />
