<br />REDWOOD <br /> <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION <br />CITY HALL <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1938 <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />City Manager Chas.. L. Dimmitt, Chairman Wayne Millington, <br />Mrs. L. A. McAtee, James P. Hagan, K. W. Van Gundy, <br />Andrew Spinas, Recreation Director Morton, Mr. De Armand, <br />Roger Walsh, Henry Beeger" and Mildred Hoenck. <br /> <br />\....,...-i <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Donald Bogie, who was reported to be in Los Angeles. <br /> <br />- The meeting-was called to order by Chairman Millington. <br />The minutes of the previous meeting-were read and upon motion made, <br />seconded, and carried, were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />Chairman Millington asked to be excused as he found it <br />necessary to attend another meeting at Burlingame. <br /> <br />It was brought to the attention of the group that a <br />Vice-Chairman had not been elected. Chairman Millington declared <br />the nominations open. Mr. Spinas nominated Mr. Hagan; Mr. Van <br />Gundy seconded the nomination; and Mr. Hagan was unanimously <br />elected. <br /> <br />Mr. Hagan took the Chair, and called upon Mr. Henry Beeger <br />to speak to the group on the subject of the proposed rifle range <br />for Redwood City. Two possible sites were mentioned--one at the <br />end of Whipple Road--and the other at the Water Works. Mr. Beeger <br />expressed his opinion that i't would be advisable just to use small <br />rifles if-the rifle range were decided upon. Also he stated that <br />there should be supervision at the range whenever there is any <br />shooting being done. He mentioned the names of_two other men be- <br />sides himself who he felt sure would be glad to act as instructors <br />in rifle shooting, namely Carl Stoner" Jr., and Mr. . <br />He felt certain that the rifle range would win the approval of the <br />citizens of Redwood City, and also stated that it would be a very <br />inexpensive activity. <br /> <br />Mr. Spinas moved that the Commission go on record as <br />being in favor of a rifle range for Redwood City. Mr. Van Gundy <br />seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />,,-,' <br /> <br />Acting-Chairman Hagan thanked Mr. Beeger for attending <br />the meeting and for presenting to the group his views 'regarding <br />the proposed rifle range. <br /> <br />Director Morton announced that it was just twenty-two <br />years ago the night of the meeting that Councilman George McNulty <br /> <br />was elected to the City Council, and that he had been amember of <br /> <br />- --.. <br /> <br />,-- - "-- <br /> <br />,. <br />
