12/18/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15633 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY SUPPORTING THE JEFFERSON/CLEVELAND SAFE ROUTES <br />TO SCHOOL AND PENINSULA BIKEWAY PROJECT AND <br />SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN AND <br />BICYCLE PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the City is committed to increasing the safety of bicyclists and <br />pedestrians and promoting active transportation within Redwood City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Jefferson/Cleveland SRTS and Peninsula Bikeway project <br />(Project) will increase safety for people walking and biking within Redwood City, and <br />WHEREAS, it will cost approximately $500,000 to implement the project scope, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to sponsor the implementation of the Project, <br />including the preparation of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E), and construction, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City seeks $375,000 in grant funding for the Project, and <br />WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988, the voters of San Mateo County approved a ballot <br />measure to allow the collection and distribution by the San Mateo County <br />Transportation Authority (TA) of a half -cent transactions and use tax in San Mateo <br />County for 25 years, with the tax revenues to be used for highway and transit <br />improvements pursuant to the Transportation Expenditure Plan presented to the voters <br />(Original Measure A); and <br />WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the voters of San Mateo County approved <br />the continuation of the collection and distribution by the TA the half -cent transactions <br />and use tax for an additional 25 years to implement the 2004 Transportation <br />Expenditure Plan beginning January 1, 2009 (New Measure A); and <br />ATTY/RESO.0109/CC RESO MEASURE A BIKE PEDESTRIAN RESO.
