Present <br />were Commissioners Evelyn Carlson, Jack Poole, H. M. Scales, and D. L. <br />Bogie. Also present were City NAnager Blom, Park Superintendent Bal- <br />zarini, Recreation Direotor Morton, and Assistant Director Genochio. <br />Absent members were Andy Spiras, Sam Alberson,. Ralph Case, Elmer Ross. <br /> <br />COW~UNICATIONS, <br /> <br />- none - <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Vfilliam P. Mott, Jr. explained the street tree planting report. <br />He urged that the maps and report should be carefully studied. J~. Matt <br />also gave a review of the trend in recreation from the National Convention <br />at St. Louis. V¿ny concessions should add revenue to the support of re- <br />creations. Baseball. tennis, swimming, and boating are possible revenue <br /> <br />. <br />conceSSlons. <br /> <br />1~ BUSINESS, <br /> <br />Alfred Morton presented the diffioultiesof the Yacht Harbor. No <br />action taken. Mr. Morton suggested that a building would be necessary <br />to house the craft work which would have to vacate the Firehouse No.2. <br />This building could also be used for recreation center. Gene De Wres, <br />a high school student, spoke for committee of youth that there was a <br />need of a city recreation center. <br /> <br />Francis Britschgi, President of the 4th of July celebration, was <br />here with an appeal for snarea for the celebration each year. <br /> <br />Motion made, seconded, and carried that the Recreation Commission <br />recommend to the City Council that the Commission is back of the Penin- <br />sula Celebration~Associat~n in securing property for their use. <br /> <br />Mr. Blom presented a map and explained the possibility of new <br />location for the Yacht Club for their recommendation at our next meeting. <br /> <br />Motion made, seconded, and carried that the meeting adjourn. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Donald L.
