<br />!' <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting, October 28,1947. <br /> <br />The regular meeting was called to order by Chairman Spinas <br />at 7:40 P.I. Present were Commissioners Andrew Spinas A. B. <br />Robb, R MacIntosh, R. Case, D. Bogie, C. B~e, J. H. Poole, H. <br />M. Scales, R. Rol~ison, A. Morton, and P. Balzarini. <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meettng were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton gave a report on the progress being made on the <br />recreation building. He stated that it has been decided to employ <br />an architect instead of buying plans from the Oakland firm.. <br /> <br />Ire Rol~ison stated that the city was ready to go ahead with <br />the turfing of at least one of the fields requested by the commiss- <br />ion. The cost of this project was discussed. The commission went on <br />record as authorizing Ire Ro~son aoo Ire Morton to stooy fiMncial <br />details, decide on what can be done with the amount of money avai- <br />lable and to go ahead. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton suggested extending turfing for archery. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Travers of the Redwood Village Improvement Club asked if <br />money from the sale of and the bond money for California Park might <br />be diverted to a recreation area in or near Redwood Village. He <br />was told that the bond money would have to be voted on by the people. <br />Ire Spinas said that the school grounds would be large enough to be <br />used for recreation purposes in the Redwood Village area. <br /> <br />Mrs. Robins was interested in the pound building being kept <br />for recreational purposes for children living on that siàe of the <br />city. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lodes said that groups of 16 children were meeting in <br />single garages and they needed more space. <br /> <br />Mr. Baume made a motion that we appoint a committee of three <br />from the Recreation Commission to meet with a group from the area <br />represented and with the school board to discuss ways and means of <br />establishing recreation areas in conjunction with the school. <br /> <br />. > <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />Major Terzian from the NQtional Guard explained thLt any tem- <br />porary Dullding erected wo~d be given to the city or if a permin- <br />ent building was erected it could be used by the city.
