<br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMIflI SS~Oll <br />REGULAR MEETING, AUGUST 4, 1951~ <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was <br />called to order by Chai~an Irving Gold at 8:00p.m. Present: <br />Catherine Brennan, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, Alyn Beals, <br />Irving Gold, mlli~ Hanley, Maurice Schutz, ~asco Balzarini <br />and AIfred Morton. <br /> <br />MSC by William Hanley and Louise Tornell that the minutes. of <br />the July 7 meeting be appro~ed. <br /> <br />Mrs. Irving Eskin of 2711 De1eware appeared before the Commission, <br />regarding the finding of spent frif1e shells in the Stu1saft Park <br />area. She inquired as to the enforcement of a recent ordinance <br />regarding firearms vdthin the city limits. <br />. Chairman Gowd stated he would contact the police department <br />and inquire about current patrolling of the park. <br /> <br />A letter was received from the Communty Council of San Mateo <br />County, inviting the Commission members to join the organization." <br />and actively parti'cipate in the Group Work Rlld Re creation <br />Division. Pasco Balzarini advised that the hazard at Community <br />Park still exists as the San Francisco Water Company 1s <br />responsible for the correction of the situation. Chairman <br />Gold to contact City Engineer Jain. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lollise Tornell reported on information received <br />fr~ the P.G.A. in ans~r to a c~ission re~uest for use of <br />the Rodeo grounds for flying model planes. !he P,C.A. advised. <br />that their liability insurance covered special events only, <br />and was not a yearly blanket coverage. As an alternative, the <br />Commission suggested the use of the Hoover School grounds. <br />Councilman Robert Spil1ars to be notified of the recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanley reported on the YMCA property <br />md suggested a $25 year to year lease 00 the adjacent property. <br />Commissioner Gerry Verssen was appointed to investigate the <br />Bement will, in wrlch money was to be used for youth activities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Alyn Beals reported further on the concession at <br />Hawes Park. He investigated sanitation requirmen~s, ~nd advised <br />that a permanent structure is req~ired to have screens, roof, floors <br />and refrigeration.
