151 REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING, JANUARY 4, 1956 The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Co~ssion was called to order January 4 at 8 P.M. by Chairman Irving Gold. Present: Catherine Brennan, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, Maurice Schutz, Alyn Beals, Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton. Noted absent: Willi~ Hanley. Commissioner Maurice Schutz asked that the matter of the Park Department identification badges be held in abeyance until the next budget and asked that the December 7 rndnutes be ~ended to read as much. MSC Gerry Verssen and Maurice Schutz that the minutes of December 7 be approved as mailed. Chairman Gold announced that the next meeting of the Park and Recrea- tion' Commisslon will be February 8. A letter was received from the Y.M.C.A. regarding the landlocked area adj acent to the Y .M.C .A. Future plans for streets in t his area are to be investigated by the Commission before recommendations will be made. A letter was read from the City Manager regarding the covering of the Hawes Park bleachers. Mr. Rolison advised that the cost would be from $2.50 to $3.00 per squ~e foot. Alfred Morton reported no further progress on the Co~~unity Park lighting. Chairman Gold reported continued progress at Yacht Harbor. Commissioner Louise Tornell reported that she had met with Mayor Herk- ner on the Park and Recreation Foundation and that he advised that he would arrange a meeting with the City Attorney and a council study meeting. Baird property item to be carried on the agenda. Commissioner Alyn Beals reported that the City Manager wrote to the State Highway Commission on November 30 regarding tree planting on El Camino between Whipple and Brewster. .. Commissioner Maurice Schutz reported that he had discussed the Farm Hills recreational area with Mr. Frahm and Mr. Peletz of Oddstad Homes. They advised that they considered continuing Stulsaft Park further up the hill and also possible kiddiesl play lot. These matters to be discussed further. Chairman Gold responded that a meeting with city officials and land- scape architects will be held soon to discuss the Stulsaft master plan.
