ON ROLL CALL the following Commissioners were noted present: Chairman Whitmore, Dixon Arnett, James Knecht, Jack Stua~t, Doris Thompson and Jim Williams. ABSENT and excused: Ann Gooding. Discussion included: That facility could be used for teen activit- ies," senior citizens, classes in ceramics, etc., tennis instruct- ion, private rentals; staff costs would approximate $34,000 per year, (department estimate), exclusive of maintenance of gcounds and landscaping, etc.: no costs estimates for renovation are available: acknowledgement that property and facilities and pro- posal had a potential for consideration at a later date in future planning: possible duplicating of services and facilities already in City: no surveyor demonstration of need for facility availa- ble at this time, and concern for funding the.purchase without jeopardizing already proposed a~d important park and recreation projects in the City which have been given high priority ratings by staff and the Commission and which should be taken care of first. --, - Commissioner Stuart moved to express appreciation to Mr. Elmer Griffin, realtor for the Redwood SWim and Tennis Club, for the opportunity to consider the proposal for purchase of Club prop- ertyand facilities by the City, and to recommend to Council that the item be tabled or actively rejected by them at this time. Seconded by Commissioner Arnett. MOTION CA~RIED on Rol! Call vote, Commissioners Arnett, Knecht, Stuart, Thompson and Williams, voting yes, and Chairman Whitmore voting no, Commissioner Gooding being noted absent.
