ABSENT and excused: Ann <br />Gooding. Also Present: Director of Recreation, Alfred Morton <br />(part): Recreation S~ervis~r, Bill Paulson: Recreation S~er- <br />yisor~, Bill Wooten (part): Supt.. of Parks, Pasco Balzarini: Park <br />Foreman#2, John Yoshida: Mr. Pete Denevi, owner-Redwood SWim and <br />Tennis Club: and Mr. Vince Bruno, San Carlos. <br /> <br />,- <br />, <br /> <br />f\GETNDA: L~!te~T lrCEl ElrII1~~u .z.ví~G~~ifTfiTIn re possible ~ur~h1a~s~ !>x City <br />of RedwoodjU rSWim~.~~d--..Tennis ClubJ 36L23 JelffeTr~_on Ave~.J Re9yood City. <br />Discussion included: That facility could be used for teen activit- <br />ies," senior citizens, classes in ceramics, etc., tennis instruct- <br />ion, private rentals; staff costs would approximate $34,000 per <br />year, (department estimate), exclusive of maintenance of gcounds <br />and landscaping, etc.: no costs estimates for renovation are <br />available: acknowledgement that property and facilities and pro- <br />posal had a potential for consideration at a later date in future <br />planning: possible duplicating of services and facilities already <br />in City: no surveyor demonstration of need for facility availa- <br />ble at this time, and concern for funding the.purchase without <br />jeopardizing already proposed a~d important park and recreation <br />projects in the City which have been given high priority ratings <br />by staff and the Commission and which should be taken care of first. <br /> <br />--, - <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to express appreciation to Mr. Elmer <br />Griffin, realtor for the Redwood SWim and Tennis Club, for the <br />opportunity to consider the proposal for purchase of Club prop- <br />ertyand facilities by the City, and to recommend to Council that <br />the item be tabled or actively rejected by them at this time. <br />Seconded by Commissioner Arnett. MOTION CA~RIED on Rol! Call <br />vote, Commissioners Arnett, Knecht, Stuart, Thompson and Williams, <br />voting yes, and Chairman Whitmore voting no, Commissioner Gooding <br />being noted absent.
