Renewal'of
use permits had not been issued pending the Planning Department presentation. Marsha
said the r1ght-of-WBl did not lend itself to a continuO1ls hiking trail system because
of'~ cross streets and traffic; that generaJ1y hiking trails mdbe arranged where there
were interesting things to see; that passive areas would be arranged in quiet neigh-
borhoods and in multi-residential areas there would be playgrounds and more active
recreation; some of the original uses such as parking for public f'acili ties will be
reviewed for compatability with the plan. Commissioner Wmiam Warren suggested a survey
of the neighborhoods including qu.estions on the extended Hetch Hetchy use. Mrs. Eleanor
Durham stated that in many sections, it is being used now by children for recreational
purposes. Chairman Schenck appointed Diane Pound and Reuben Ha1nes to work wi th staff
on the plan presented. The committee appointment and approval ot the concept presented
was by motion of Joanne Weintraub, seconded by Reuben ~es; carried.

III REPORTS:

RED M OR TON CO MMUNIT!
