PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF JANUARY 24, 1996 CO MMIS S lONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Swope, Co mmi ss i oners Hughes, Morton, Nordness, Slusser, and Truscelli COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Davis GUESTS PRESENT: Pete Hughes, Vince Truscelli STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Marc Seleznow, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Susan Swope at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The November minutes were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE - A copy of a letter from 5 u perviso r Bill Wooten to J ed Du gish of A Y 50 with an update of the Kennedy Field Renovation Project. -A copy of a letter from Mayor Jim Hartnett to Loretta Loeffler thanking her for her letter requesting a room at the new Red Morton Center be dedicated to Art David. A plaque dedicating the conference room to Mr. David was presented at the Grand Opening of the Center on January 20. -Chairperson Swope received a letter from Brent Britschgi congratulating the Park and Recreation Commission on their work on the new Red Morton Center and on the Grand Opening ceremonies. ITEM 1 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE The Commissioners each commented on the successful grand opening of the new Red Morton Center held on Saturday, January 20. Commissioner Hughes said she was highly impressed and pleased with the new facility. Commissioner N ordness said he heard 3,500 people attended the grand opening and said the beneficiaries are the people in the community. Commissioner Morton said he was very impressed and received lots of positive feedback from the community and felt that our tax dollars were well . . .." . . . ::" ':.,' '.~'. ;';<,', ',.':.
