<br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />GRANT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />SAN MATEO COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS - 2006 <br /> <br />THIS GRANT AGREEMENT is made and entered into this J:Z~ day of <br />OOÁ~J)2005, by and between the REDWOOD CITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, <br />a public body, corporate and politic ("Grantor"), and the SAN MATEO COUNTY <br />HISTORY MUSEUM ("Grantee") (collectively, the "Parties"), with reference to the <br />following facts: <br /> <br />RECITALS <br /> <br />A Grantor is a public entity organized in accordance with the Community <br />Redevelopment Law as contained in California Health and Safety Code Sections 33000, <br />et. seq. Pursuant thereto, Grantor is authorized to undertake and support projects within <br />designated areas of the City of Redwood City ("City") which foster the elimination of <br />blighted conditions and encourage the economic well-being of such areas. <br /> <br />B. Grantee is sponsoring a series of events that will celebrate the anniversary <br />of the formation of San Mateo County and its history. <br /> <br />C. Grantee has requested financial assistance in the form of a grant to assist <br />with the sesquicentennial events as is more particularly described in Exhibit A, which is <br />attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> <br />D. The sesquicentennial events will attract Bay Area residents of all age <br />groups to downtown Redwood City to celebrate San Mateo County's history. <br /> <br />E. Grantee has sought, and upon the terms and conditions described herein, <br />Grantor is willing to provide, funding for certain costs associated with the event. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Grantor and Grantee hereby agree as follows: <br /> <br />1. Grant and Use of Funds. Grantor shall pay to Grantee a sum not to exceed <br />Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) to help defray Grantee's costs <br />associated with promoting a series of events to celebrate the sesquicentennial of San <br />Mateo County. Such funds will be used fully and exclusively for the activities and <br />expenses detailed in the attached Exhibit "A" Said sum shall be paid in one (1) <br />installment upon the execution of this agreement. If at any time Grantee determines or is <br />otherwise incapable of providing for promotion of said sesquicentennial events, all <br />uncommitted funds provided to Grantee by Grantor shall be immediately returned to <br />Grantor by Grantee. Costs for the promotion of said sesquicentennial events shall not <br />equal less than Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000). <br /> <br />Atty/Agr/Agr.188 <br />052604/0 B B/cls <br /> <br />1 <br />
