<br />CES:mg <br /> <br />121/90 <br /> <br />(080/27) <br /> <br />Or'I("'! i'., t\ l <br />1'< ..,.,,,' ".' <br />~\,-(.~i.~0~ \..- <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N 0.1-.1 330 <br /> <br />JUN 25 1990 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY <br />TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, traffic volumes and congestion in San Mateo County <br /> <br />and the surrounding region have increased appreciably in recent <br /> <br />years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, increased employment growth in the County and <br /> <br />surrounding region has occurred in recent years and is expected <br /> <br />to continue, contributing to growing traffic congestion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, traffic congestion is a regional problem which <br /> <br />requires coordinated and concerted actions by local governments, <br /> <br />employers, SamTrans and Caltrans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, peak hour traffic congestion can be managed by <br /> <br />increasing the efficiency of the transportation system through <br /> <br />such techniques as ridesharing, increased use of public transit, <br /> <br />flexible work schedules; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988, the citizens of San Mateo County <br /> <br />approved a ballot measure, known as Measure A, which raised the <br /> <br />sales tax in San Mateo County primarily for highway and transit <br /> <br />improvements. <br /> <br />Measure A also requires the preparation of a <br /> <br />Countywide Transportation System Management (TSM) Plan to reduce <br /> <br />congestion <br /> <br />through <br /> <br />efficient <br /> <br />management <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />existing <br /> <br />transportation system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on May 3, 1990, the San Mateo County Transportation <br /> <br />Authority adopted the San Mateo County Transportation System <br />Management (TSM) Plan which identifies measures that would be <br />
